Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium screw with a crown that replaces a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. Once in place it integrates in the bone in such a manner that it restores the function of the missing tooth/teeth. Dental implants are a permanent solution to your missing teeth without any damage to the adjacent teeth. They also help in maintaining the height and shape of your underlying bone so that your facial features remain preserved.
Dental implants can be used for replacing single or multiple missing teeth and complete edentulous arches as well.
Depending on the bone quality and height of the area where the implant is to be placed an additional step of bone grafting or direct/indirect sinus lift may be required.
Why would you have a missing tooth?
You could have a missing tooth for multiple reasons like trauma, decay, or age related changes. A Permanent tooth may never have erupted in that space and may be missing congenitally, etc.
So what is the problem with these missing teeth?
The teeth adjacent and opposing the missing space begin to move into the space caused by a missing tooth leading to a chain reaction of detrimental effects that cause bone and gum damage, disrupt your otherwise healthy bite and misalign your teeth leading to bad oral health and eventual loss of other teeth as well.
Are Implants Painful?
At The Dental Experience we have a multidisciplinary approach and each case is dealt with great precision of a specialized team. The Implantologist carries out a minor surgical procedure under local Anesthesia to place the implants and in many cases the implants can be immediately loaded (immediate crown on top of the implant). Most patients complain of a mild heaviness/tightness/discomfort in their bone and nothing more.
I am a Diabetic and suffer from hypertension, can I get implants?
After a careful examination, detailed case history, latest blood investigations and if needed an opinion from the medical specialist, implants can be placed in controlled Diabetics and hypertensive patients. Your health is our priority!
